Crooked Creek Barn

A true collaboration between architect, owners as interior designers, and builder, the project team reconfigured the interior spaces of a partially renovated antique barn to be open and modern, while retaining and expressing the 18th century post and beam structure.

On the terrace level, ceilings were left exposed to express the wood planks and beams. A first-floor entry porch addition, made with salvaged post and beams, leads to a compact but open modern kitchen--designed to enhance and visually connect with the lofted ceilings in the living room. The second-floor loft master bedroom suite, with a sitting area, bath, and a bedroom in the "silo" is finished throughout with recycled lumber.
