Samuel (Mike) Purvis, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP

Mike joined Studio Nexus in 2019, bringing more than two decades of architecture experience, especially in custom residential work and project management. Having run his own award-winning architectural firm for nine years and worked with others for nearly fifteen, Mike’s professional expertise is diverse and extensive; it is complimented by his knowledge and interest in issues of sustainable design, building code and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He has worked closely with the Department of Justice and Vermont Access Board to address and correct accessibility issues. He excels at assisting residential clients in making informed decisions during the design process and working with contractors during the construction phase to realize the vision and potential of each project. He was the project architect for a contemporary-rural, near net-zero home on the Connecticut River, featuring a highly insulated, energy-efficient building envelope, mechanical system, and solar array.

Mike received a Bachelor of Arts from George Washington University and his Master of Architecture from Catholic University of America. He is licensed in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York.

Outside of the office Mike is an avid amateur photographer, a passionate skier, a tennis player and experienced soccer coach, player, and fan.
