South Main Street Industrial Lofts

A cornerstone of downtown White River Junction’s redevelopment, a former industrial dry cleaning building and, earlier, a blacksmith’s shop is being converted into urban apartments. Targeted toward the actors and staff for the nearby Northern Stage theater company, the building also includes a mix of market-rate studios, and one and two-bedroom units designed for flexible, open, loft-style living. Many of the mid-century industrial elements of the original building and those of the immediately surrounding neighborhood are retained in an effort to create a cohesive industrial center, further enhancing the industrial esthetic prevalent at this part of Main Street. Elements of this era found in our building and the surrounding area include: the metal ribbed or corrugated siding, glass and metal storefront-type doors, awning-type windows, corrugated metal roofed porches and overhangs, metal fascia and soffits, exposed concrete and concrete block.
